International Women’s Day has been celebrated for over a century and marks a day of acknowledging the achievements of women around the world whether that’s on a social, cultural, political, cultural or economic level. But it’s more than just a day of celebration; it also functions as a call to action to end gender inequality.
The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is #Balanceforbetter, acknowledging the importance of establishing a gender balance. This balance is needed across all aspects of society, including the world of work.
Our ‘Women in business’ topic in the e-learning hub looks at some of the specific challenges that women face in the workplace and offers support, guidance and encouragement for them to keep developing their career and reaching their full potential. There’s advice from experienced career coaches discussing their own career journeys, as well as articles and videos discussing issues such as the gender pay gap, negotiation techniques and ‘Promoting yourself: should women do it differently’.
There is also a host of inspiring videos on Women in engineering and Women in technology, with female professionals sharing what it’s like to work in these industries and why it’s so important that more women join these sectors.
The #Balanceforbetter campaign does not end on International Women’s Day but runs all year long. Similarly, we are committed to keep adding new content aimed specifically at women so that we can keep supporting them on their career journeys all year round.
